Common Questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. PhotoToPuzzle never uploads, syncs, or copies your photos to any server. Every operation - picking, cropping, shuffling, rendering, scoring - runs entirely on your device. The app also works fully offline. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I start a new puzzle?
On the Home tab, tap the big action button to pick a photo from your library or shoot a new one with the camera. Crop the square you want to play, pick a difficulty (3×3 up to 7×7), and start solving.
How does scoring work?
Your score combines time and moves against a difficulty-aware target. Fewer moves and a faster time earn more stars (up to ★★★). Your best score per photo + difficulty is saved locally and shown in History.
What is the daily challenge?
Every day PhotoToPuzzle generates the same shuffle seed from the date. Everyone playing that day sees the same arrangement - with their own photo. Solve it to extend your streak. Weekly challenges work the same way, refreshed each Monday.
How do challenge codes work?
After finishing a puzzle, tap Share to get a 6-character code. A friend can type it into PhotoToPuzzle (Home → Enter code) to play the same shuffle on their own photo. The code only carries the difficulty and a shuffle seed - no image data ever.
Can I resume a puzzle later?
Yes. PhotoToPuzzle auto-saves your in-progress puzzle. When you reopen the app you'll see a big CONTINUE card on Home. If the source photo has been deleted from your device we'll offer to start a fresh puzzle instead.
What does Zen mode do?
Zen mode hides the timer and move counter during play so you can solve at your own pace. Enable it from Settings → Gameplay → Zen mode. You can still earn stars - the HUD just stays out of the way.
How do I change the language?
PhotoToPuzzle supports English and Polish. Go to Settings → Language and pick your preferred language. Select System to follow your device setting. Changes apply immediately.
Can I customize the theme?
Yes - Settings → Theme & typography lets you switch dark/light/system, choose a color preset, override the accent color, pick a font color, scale the font, enable high contrast, and reduce animations for sensitive viewing.
Where are my achievements?
Go to the Stats tab and tap View all under Achievements, or jump via Settings → Explore → Achievements. Each badge shows when you unlocked it and how to earn the ones still locked.
How do I clear my history?
Settings → Data gives you targeted options: clear solved history, reset streak & achievements, clear recent photos, or discard the current puzzle. For a full wipe, Settings → Danger zone → Reset all data.
Does PhotoToPuzzle work offline?
Absolutely. PhotoToPuzzle is fully offline - no internet connection is required, ever. All puzzle generation, solving, scoring, and statistics run locally.
Can I share my result?
After you solve a puzzle, tap Share to generate a share card (photo thumbnail + score + time + challenge code). Send it via the native share sheet to any app you like. The card is also saved to your photo library.
Why does the camera ask for permission?
The camera permission is only requested when you explicitly tap the Camera button to shoot a new photo. If you decline, the rest of PhotoToPuzzle keeps working - you can always pick photos from the library instead.
How do I delete all my data?
Either use Settings → Danger zone → Reset all data, or uninstall PhotoToPuzzle. Because all data is local, uninstalling permanently removes every saved puzzle, score, achievement, and preference.
