What This Policy Covers
This privacy policy explains how TallyDot handles your information. TallyDot is a free minimalist personal tracker with no user accounts, no backend servers, and no data collection. All your tracker data, history, notes, and preferences remain exclusively on your device.
This policy applies to TallyDot on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Data We Collect
TallyDot collects zero data. No analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry of any kind. The app functions entirely on your device with no network requests during normal use.
Data Stored on Your Device
TallyDot stores the following data locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device:
- Active tracker name, type, and current value
- Day-by-day history entries with dates and values
- Daily notes attached to tracker entries
- App preferences — theme, accent color, haptics, language
- Reminder schedule (hour and minute)
- Onboarding completion status
You have full control over this data. You can export it, reset it within the app, or remove it entirely by uninstalling TallyDot.

Device Permissions
TallyDot requests specific device permissions only when you use the related feature. Each permission is optional:
| Permission | Purpose | Data handling |
|---|---|---|
| Photo Library (write) | Save generated share cards to your photo library | Local only |
| Notifications | Daily tracking reminders at a time you choose | Local only |
Notifications are entirely local — no push tokens are generated or transmitted. Photo library access is write-only; TallyDot cannot read or browse your existing photos.
Sharing and Export
TallyDot includes optional sharing and export features that you control:
- Share cards: Generate visual progress cards that can be shared via the native OS share sheet, or directly to Facebook and Instagram. The card image is saved to your photo library before opening the target app.
- Social sharing: TallyDot can open Facebook or Instagram on your device so you can post your share card. No data is sent to Facebook, Instagram, or any server by TallyDot itself — the app simply saves an image locally and opens the other app. If Facebook or Instagram is not installed, you are offered a link to the App Store or Google Play.
- JSON export: Export all tracker data as a JSON backup file stored on your device.
- CSV export: Export history as a CSV file for use in spreadsheets.
- JSON import: Restore previously exported data from a backup file.
All sharing and export actions are initiated by you. No data is automatically transmitted. No accounts, tokens, or social media SDKs are integrated.
App Update Checks
TallyDot checks for app updates via Expo Application Services (EAS) when the app launches. This involves a brief network request to Expo's servers to verify the app version. No personal data, usage data, or device identifiers are transmitted during this check. All other app functionality works fully offline.
Third-Party Services
TallyDot does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data-processing services. The only external network request is the app update check described above, which transmits no personal data.
Children's Privacy
TallyDot does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no social features, no in-app purchases, and no objectionable content.
Data Retention and Deletion
All data exists exclusively on your device. You are in full control:
- Reset your tracker from the home screen edit sheet
- Export or import data using the backup features in Settings
- Uninstall TallyDot to permanently remove all data
- Clear app data via your device's system settings
No data is stored on any server — there is nothing to request deletion of remotely.
Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security — passcode, biometrics, and encryption at rest. TallyDot makes no network requests, eliminating the risk of data interception during transmission.
Changes to This Policy
Updates will be published at this URL with a revised date. Since TallyDot collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
