About

TalkWay is a group voice channel for up to five people. Create a room, share a short code and talk live over the internet - no walkie-talkies, no range limit, no accounts.

What it does:

  1. Five people on one channel - one room, up to five participants, everyone hears everyone,
  2. Built for both platforms - native audio modules exist for iOS and Android and feed the same room; Android is the one released today,
  3. Hands-free on the move - lock the screen and keep talking with the app in the background: on a bike, on a run, in a car or on a slope,
  4. Your music keeps playing - TalkWay plays no music of its own; choose a full mix, ducking while someone speaks, or voice alone,
  5. Honest about Bluetooth - a classic headset drops from stereo A2DP to mono call audio when the microphone opens, and TalkWay reports the real route instead of hiding the quality drop,
  6. A six-character room code - that is the entire joining procedure, no invitations, profiles or friend lists.

Anonymous by design. No account and no sign-in: you never give a name or an email. Voice is streamed live and never recorded or stored, and the only thing the server holds is a short-lived room code that disappears when you are done. TalkWay asks for the microphone and nothing else - no camera, no location, no contacts.

Availability at launch. The app is currently available in Poland only and on Android only, and the infrastructure serves 75 rooms of five people at a time. The room limit comes from the current server and grows with the infrastructure. The iOS version and wider reach are the next steps.

Real-time audio runs on LiveKit, with a small backend whose only job is issuing short-lived access tokens.

02 / Key Features

Key Features

The most important capabilities, explained in practical terms.

Five On One Channel

One room holds up to five people and everyone hears everyone. The channel runs over the internet, so distance stops being the constraint the way it is with radios.

Built for both platforms

Native audio modules were built for iOS and Android and feed the same room. Android is the version released today; once iOS lands, a mixed group will be the normal case, not a workaround.

Hands-Free With The Screen Off

Lock the phone, put it in a pocket and keep talking. The channel stays open with the app in the background, so you never reach for the device mid-ride.

Your Own Music Keeps Playing

TalkWay plays no music of its own. It sits next to Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music and lets you choose how the two share your ears: full mix, duck the music while someone speaks, or voice only.

Honest About Bluetooth Audio

A classic Bluetooth headset drops from stereo A2DP to mono call audio the moment its microphone opens, and music quality drops with it. TalkWay requests a sensible route, reports the route it actually got and raises a readable warning. Open-ear and wired setups avoid the switch entirely.

A Six-Character Room Code

Creating a room gives you a short code. Share it however you like and up to four others join. There is nothing else to set up - no invites, no profiles, no friend lists.

Nothing Is Recorded

Voice is streamed live and never written to disk, on the device or on the server. There is no history to leak, export or hand over.

One Permission Only

TalkWay asks for the microphone and nothing else. No camera, no location, no contacts, and no account to create in the first place.

Rooms That Expire

The only thing the server holds is a short-lived room code, and it disappears when the group is done. With no account there is no profile left behind to delete afterwards.

Built On LiveKit

Real-time audio runs on LiveKit, with a small backend whose only job is minting short-lived access tokens. Client and server share typed contracts, so a mismatch fails loudly instead of degrading in silence.
