Start time, end time, break. The result is hours and minutes, decimal hours for a timesheet, and the total in minutes.
A shift whose end time is before its start is treated as running overnight rather than as an error, because that is far more often what was meant. The result says the assumption was made, so a genuine typo is still visible.
The break is subtracted from the gross duration, and a break longer than the shift is refused rather than producing a negative number of hours worked.
