UPC Barcode Generator FREE
Make a UPC-A barcode from a 12 digit product code, with the check digit calculated for you and the digits set where a scanner and a shopper both expect them.
UPC-A, and how it relates to EAN-13
UPC-A is the twelve digit code on products sold in the United States and Canada. Eleven digits identify the company and the item and the twelfth is a check digit, which this tool works out when you type the first eleven and verifies when you paste all twelve.
A UPC-A is not merely similar to an EAN-13: it IS an EAN-13 whose leading digit is zero, and the bars are identical. That is why a scanner outside North America reads a UPC-A without being told anything, and why this tool draws both from the same module tables.
The first and last digits sit outside the symbol, beside the long guard bars, which is the layout the specification gives and the one people recognise. The quiet zone is included in the SVG. As with any retail barcode, the number itself has to be allocated to you by GS1; this tool only draws it.
