Technical details

Every conversion, palette and contrast figure on this page is computed in your browser. An image you drop in is read on a canvas in this tab and is never uploaded.

How it works

What the picker gives you

The picker writes the colour in every notation CSS accepts: hex, rgb(), hsl(), hwb(), oklch(), oklab(), lab(), lch() and color(display-p3 ...). Each one is a copy button, and each is the same colour rather than a rounded approximation of it - the conversions follow CSS Color Level 4, including the real sRGB transfer curve rather than a gamma of 2.2.

Nothing is uploaded. The colour, the recent list and your saved palette live in this browser, and the eyedropper - where the browser provides one - reads a single pixel from your own screen without this page seeing anything else.
