APCA (draft, additional information)
APCA is the perceptual contrast model drafted for WCAG 3. It is not a conformance requirement today and it disagrees with WCAG 2 in both directions, so it is shown as extra information and never as a pass or a fail.

What the ratio means
The ratio is the WCAG 2.2 definition: the relative luminance of the lighter colour plus 0.05, divided by the same for the darker one. 4.5:1 is the AA requirement for normal text, 3:1 for large text and for user interface components, and 7:1 is AAA. A semi-transparent colour is composited over the page colour first, the way a browser paints it.
When a pair misses the target, the suggestion is the nearest shade of the same colour that reaches it, found by searching lightness and chroma in OKLCH and measured again after rounding to eight bits - so the hex you copy is the hex that passes. Meeting a contrast requirement is one success criterion out of many and does not by itself make a page accessible.
