Aspect Ratio Calculator FREE
Simplify a width and height to a ratio, and find the missing dimension when you know one side of the new size.
Aspect ratio
Simplify a ratio, and work out the missing dimension when you know one side.
How this is calculated
Enter the current width and height and the ratio is reduced by their greatest common divisor, so 1920 x 1080 becomes 16:9 and 1280 x 1024 becomes 5:4, with the decimal form beside it.
Type a target width or a target height and the other side is computed at the same proportions, rounded to whole pixels. That is the everyday case: a banner slot, a video frame, a thumbnail that must keep its shape.
Pixels are whole numbers, so the computed side is rounded and the exact ratio may be off by a fraction of a percent; the decimal shown is the one to compare if that matters.
