How this is calculated
Bill, percentage, number of people. The tip, the total and the amount each person owes, worked out in exact decimal arithmetic rather than floating point.
The rounding options are the ones people actually use at a table: round the tip to a whole unit, or round the total up and let the tip absorb the difference. Neither is the default, because plenty of places do neither.
For an uneven split - three people where one had the expensive thing - the split calculator takes a ratio like 1:1:2 and divides the bill by it.
