How this is calculated
Percentage difference compares two values without calling either the original: the gap is divided by the average of the two, so 50 versus 75 gives the same answer as 75 versus 50.
That is what makes it different from percentage change, which divides by the starting value and therefore depends on which number comes first. Use change when there is a before and an after; use difference when there is not.
The arithmetic is exact decimal, and the result shows the absolute gap next to the percentage so the two are never read for each other.
