How this is calculated
Net to gross adds the rate. Gross to net divides by one plus the rate - which is not the same as subtracting the rate from the gross, and is the mistake that makes a 23% VAT calculation come out 4.4% wrong. This calculator does the division.
The rate is a field, not a country. The presets are common European rates offered as shortcuts; rates, exemptions, reduced categories and reverse charge rules differ by country and by what is being sold, so the arithmetic is here and the tax advice is not.
Everything is computed in exact decimal arithmetic and rounded once, so a line here lands where an invoice puts it rather than a cent away.
