How this is calculated
Enter the price and the percentage off and you get three numbers: what comes off, what you pay and what you saved. Tax, if you add a rate, is applied to the discounted price - which is the order every jurisdiction this site is published in actually uses, and which changes the total if you do it the other way round.
The arithmetic is exact decimal rather than floating point, so 19.99 at 15% off is the price on the shelf and not a cent beside it.
